Bicton Park Devon
One of the most popular destinations is Bicton Park Botanical Gardens. With Georgian gardens and glass houses, when it comes to beautiful gardens, Bicton does compare favourably to Kew. A massive draw for fans of steam power there is the Bicton woodland railway and the countryside museum on the grounds is home to wonderful example of steam powered tractors.

Of course, not every child stares in wonder at massive steam powered farm machinery from a bygone age, so there are both indoor and outdoor play areas for children, including dedicated areas for the under 5s, bouncy castle, mini golf and the big foot maze. The gardens also include the 'Nut hatch trail', which is a popular walk for children of all ages. Bicton regularly hosts musical concerts, something to check on before you go, either to make sure that there are tickets available or to leave it for another day to enjoy the gardens in more peace. |
