Norman Lockyer Observatory -
For those with a penchant for scientific history, there is the Norman Lockyer Observatory and radio station, operated by The Norman Lockyer Observatory Society. Established in 1912 for research by the astronomer Sir Norman Lockyer, the observatory is now run for the benefit improving education and awareness of science amongst the general public and schools.
The society aims to run a facility where anyone can study science in a practical and fun way.

The observatory is open to the public most Saturdays in the evening at 19:30, but it is best to check in advance. Visitors are also welcome on some Wednesday afternoons, there are also scientific lectures on the second Monday of each month.The annual South West Astronomy Fair is held at the Norman Lockyer Observatory each August. |
